Liver cancer
Liver cancer affects the liver and is a major cause of cancer deaths globally. It often develops in people with chronic liver diseases, such as cirrhosis caused by hepatitis B or C infection.
Causes
The exact cause of liver cancer is not fully understood. Liver cancer occurs when liver cells mutate in their DNA, leading to uncontrolled growth and division. These abnormal cells accumulate to form tumors that can invade and spread.

Types of Liver cancer
Liver cancer is categorized by the cells from which it originates, guiding treatment. Types include:
Hepatocellular carcinoma
The most common type, begins in liver cells (hepatocytes).
Cholangiocarcinoma
Starts in the bile ducts within the liver.
Hepatoblastoma
A rare type, primarily affecting young children.
